Huawei’s Steel and Nonferrous Metals Legion Visits FAMBITION to Explore Collaboration in Intelligent Mining

To advance the digital transformation of mining and support the development of safer, smarter and more sustainable non-coal mining operations, Shi Mao, President of Huawei’s Steel and Nonferrous Metals Legion, led a delegation of eight to visit FAMBITION for an in-depth exchange on potential areas of collaboration.

The two sides discussed the development of intelligent mines, with a particular focus on the application of emerging technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and big data, as well as opportunities for joint innovation and cooperation.

Established in 2025, Huawei’s Steel and Nonferrous Metals Legion is a specialized team focused on the digital transformation of the metallurgy and mining industries. Huawei provides digital infrastructure and industry solutions through a “platform + ecosystem” approach, leveraging technologies such as 5G-A/TSN industrial private networks, cloud-edge computing and data intelligence platforms. Its solutions are designed to support digital transformation and intelligent operations across the mining and metallurgical value chains.

During the visit, the delegation toured FAMBITION’s Laixi Industrial Park to gain first-hand insight into the company’s manufacturing processes, smart production capabilities and latest technological developments. Particular attention was given to FAMBITION’s work in intelligent and unmanned mining equipment, including Deep Astral, FAMBITION’s intelligent mining system for remote and autonomous operation.

At the following meeting, President Shi Mao introduced Huawei’s business strategy and capabilities in the mining sector, sharing its latest practices and technologies in areas including mine digitalization, large AI models, industrial connectivity and intelligent sensing.

The two sides held in-depth discussions around several potential areas of cooperation, including the development of solutions for non-coal mining applications, the incubation of solutions for key mining scenarios and joint technology development. They also exchanged views on industry challenges, market opportunities and ecosystem development.

The visit helped both sides identify potential areas for deeper strategic cooperation. Moving forward, FAMBITION and Huawei’s Steel and Nonferrous Metals Legion will establish a regular communication and collaboration mechanism, combining their respective strengths in technology development, application scenarios and industry resources.

Together, the two sides will explore integrated intelligent solutions designed for the complex operating environments of modern mines, leveraging digital technologies to improve safety, operational efficiency and environmental performance.
